Our experience in bacon slicing goes back many years when, in the late 70s, we worked with some of Europe’s biggest processors and developed high speed bacon slicers to produce big volumes of fixed weight retail packs. We pioneered the application of advanced computer and vision technology to look at and measure a cross section of the product prior to its being sliced. This gave our machines the ability to produce greater volumes of more accurate slices to a closer tolerance with consistent slice thicknesses.

Progress has continued at a pace and earned us the enviable reputation of being the leading manufacturer in the world to design and build slicers specifically for slicing bacon. So, when we say it’s a Bacon Slicer, it really is just that – not an adapted cooked meat slicer.

That’s why we think an AEW Delford Systems Bacon Slicer produces higher slicing yields, higher output rates, higher on-weight packs, lower product giveaway and better product presentation than any other type of bacon slicer.

Quality control

Vision technology and advanced control systems give our slicers the ability to deliver outstanding product quality by reducing front end trim waste, limiting butt end waste and totally eliminating the incidence of thick and thin as well as Sliver slices.

Dynamic weighing and instantaneous trends combine with the feed forward vision information system to guarantee the production of accurate pack weights. The ingenious vision system inside our new IBS2000 and IBS2020 bacon slicers measures each slice at the blade before it is cut and, simultaneously, the lean/fat distribution. The machine then adjusts the slice thickness to achieve target weight. The thickness of each slice is minutely adjusted, so overall pack presentation is far more consistent and attractive than that of other machines which weigh the packs part way through the process then vary slice thickness for the remaining slices. This also means portions have consistent nutritional values and ‘cookability’.

Increased output

Increases in production output are clearly shown by improvements in draft management when using an AEW Delford Systems patented jump conveyor. Reduced slice denials allow higher pack rate production with lower blade speeds which is further enhanced by the elimination of reload time with a continuous feed system. The vision system also enables automatic grading, thereby eliminating guesswork and making a very significant contribution to overall efficiency and lower cost production.
